The Story of the Autograph
Brad Hennessey is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues who spent time as both a starter and a reliever. He played from 2004 to 2008 and spent that time with the San Francisco Giants.
Hennessey is from Ohio, being born and raised in Toledo. After honorable mention for All American honors and All-Ohio honors in high school he went on to Youngstown State to play both shortstop and pitch. In his senior year he converted to pitching full-time and became the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year. The Giants then drafted him in the first round of the 2001 MLB Draft with the 31st overall pick. He would make his major league debut three years later on August 7, 2004.
In the first two years he worked exclusively as a starter and played in 28 games across those years. In his third year he was moved into the bullpen, playing in 34 games with twelve of those being starts. He would play in a career high 69 games in 2007, all in relief, and then seventeen games with four starts in his final year in the majors. His best year was 2007 when he went 4-5 with a career low 3.42 ERA.
After his time in San Francisco was done he tried to make it with Baltimore, Minnesota and Houston but never made it back tot he majors.
The Score on Brad Hennessey – 6.5
Brad has a style a bit similar to that of Phil Garner. It’s on the small side like Phil’s as well, but Brad has a bit of a longer name so it can be only so small. He actually seems to have signed in a bit bigger space on the Upper Deck card. That’s usually a sign that someone likes you to see their signature when possible.
Thanks Mr. Hennessey! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
