The Story of the Autograph

Bob MacDonald is a former left-handed relief pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1990 to 1996 with the Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees and New York Mets. He also played in Japan for the Hanshin Tigers in 1997.

MacDonald is a native of New Jersey. He went to Rutgers University and from there he was drafted in the 19th round of the 1987 MLB Draft by the Blue Jays. He spent a few years in their minor league system and then debuted on August 14, 1990. He played in just four games that first season and pitched on 2.1 innings.

He spent more time with the Jays over the next two years before having his contract purchsed when he moved on to Detroit before the 1993 season. He played in 68 games that season and went 3-3 with a 5.35 ERA for the Tigers but became a free agent after the season. He spent the 1994 season out of baseball. He was signed by the Astros, Mariners, and White Sox but never made it to the bigs.

In 1995 he played for the Yankees and then in 1996 with the Mets to spend a little time in New York. It was on to Japan to close out his career after that.

The Score on Bob MacDonald – 7.5

Bob’s stacked signature is pretty compact. His last name in his signature isn’t that much bigger than his first name even though there are six more letters in it. One thing I love about this return is that he changed the marker color for the 1994 Score card where he is in a Detroi Tigers jersey.

Thanks Mr. MacDonald! I’m giving this return a 7.5 overall.
