The Story of the Autograph
Bob Brower is a former outfielder in the majors leagues. He played from 1986 to 1989 with the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees.
Brower was born in New York and went to high school in Northern Virginia (just down the road from me actually). After being a four sport athlete (baseball, football, basketball and track) he went on to attend Duke University, but on a football scholarship. The Rangers signed him as an amateur free agent in July of 1982. He spent four years in their minor league system and made his major league debut on September 3, 1986.
After playing in 21 games his first season he appeared in 127 in 1987. He hit .261 with fourteen homers and 46 RBI with fifteen stolen bases. Unfortunately his playing time went down the next season and he appeared in 82 games. The Rangers traded him to the Yankees for Bobby Meacham in December of 1988 and he played a few games for the Yankees in the 1989 season, which would be his last in the majors.
He’s been the Vice President of the Scott Boras Corporation since 2000.
The Score on Bob Brower – 5.5
I usually like a repetitive letter signature and Bob’s is pretty good. Those “Bs” look pretty good. I also like the blue marker on these cards with the Rangers uniforms. I think I’ve recently picked up some other cards of his so I’m looking forward to getting those out too. I think the only problem on this return is that the one card is so dark for the image.
Thanks Mr. Brower! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
