The Story of the Autograph
Adam Haseley, born on April 12, 1996, in Orlando, Florida, is a talented outfielder known for his athleticism, strong defensive skills, and ability to contribute offensively. His baseball journey has been marked by steady progress and the promise of a bright future in Major League Baseball (MLB). As a first-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Phillies, Haseley quickly made a name for himself as one of the organization’s top prospects, and his career has been filled with both challenges and triumphs.
Growing up in Windermere, Florida, Haseley excelled in multiple sports, but it was baseball where he truly shined. He attended The First Academy in Orlando, a school known for producing high-level athletes, and quickly stood out with his powerful bat and impressive athleticism in the outfield. Haseley’s talent earned him a scholarship to play college baseball at the University of Virginia.
While playing for the Virginia Cavaliers, Haseley thrived, becoming a standout player both at the plate and on the mound as a pitcher. However, it was his bat and outfield play that drew the most attention from professional scouts. In 2017, he had a breakout junior season, hitting .390 with 14 home runs and leading his team to success. Haseley’s exceptional college career culminated in being selected by the Philadelphia Phillies as the eighth overall pick in the first round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
After being drafted, Haseley quickly transitioned to professional baseball and began his rise through the Phillies’ farm system. His advanced hitting approach and strong defense allowed him to climb the ranks swiftly. In his first full professional season in 2018, Haseley played across multiple levels, showing his ability to adjust to the competition and contribute consistently.
In 2019, after strong performances in Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Haseley earned a call-up to the big leagues. He made his MLB debut on June 4, 2019, with the Phillies, marking a significant milestone in his career. In his first season, he hit .266 with 5 home runs and 26 RBIs over 67 games, displaying his potential as a starting outfielder.
Haseley’s career has not been without challenges. The shortened 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted his momentum, and in 2021, personal issues caused him to step away from the game temporarily. Despite these setbacks, Haseley returned to the field determined to re-establish himself as a valuable part of the Phillies’ roster. His defense has always been a strong point, with impressive range and the ability to make difficult plays in the outfield. Offensively, he has shown flashes of his potential, but consistency at the plate remains an area of focus as he continues to develop.
In 2022, Haseley was traded to the Chicago White Sox, offering him a fresh start with a new organization. This move presented Haseley with an opportunity to carve out a role with a competitive team while continuing to work on his hitting approach. The White Sox valued his versatility and defensive prowess, giving him a chance to contribute in various outfield positions.
Off the field, Haseley is known for his calm demeanor and strong work ethic. He is a player who quietly goes about his business and lets his performance speak for itself. Haseley has also been involved in community initiatives and charitable work throughout his career, particularly focusing on helping underprivileged children.
At just 28 years old, Adam Haseley’s career is still in its early stages, and he has plenty of time to reach his full potential. His defensive skills and disciplined approach at the plate provide a solid foundation for continued growth. While his journey has seen some ups and downs, Haseley’s talent and determination make him a player to watch in the coming years as he looks to establish himself as a key contributor in the Major Leagues.
The Score on Adam Haseley – 6.5
Another return of a current player, Adam did a great job on this card. I think this is one of my favorite Heritage designs too. Obviously that would make it one of my favorite original Topps designs and it is, but the Heritage cards don’t get the damage like the old cards do and then really show on those black borders. While I never like facsimile signatures on the cards, I kind of like that Adam’s matches on this one.
Thanks Mr. Haseley! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
