The Story of the Autograph
Acie Earl is a former power forward and center in the NBA. He played in the NBA from 1993 to 1997 for the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors and Milwaukee Bucks. After that he played until 2004 in the CBA and internationally in France, Australia, China, Turkey, Russia, Poland, Austria, Montenegro and Kosovo.
Earl was born and raised in Illinois. After a great high school career he played at the University of Iowa. He helped the Hawkeyes get to the 1991 NCAA Tournament before losing to Duke, the eventual champions. That repeated in the 1992 tournament. The next year they would be back but again lose in the second round to an ACC team, this time to Wake Forest. But he graduated as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and held the blocked shot record for a career with 358.
The Celtics selected him in the first round of the 1993 NBA Draft with the 19th overall pick. He played in 74 games his first season and averages 5.5 points per game. Unfortunately it was a bit downhill from there. He went to Toronto in the Expansion draft where he had his best season. He played the next season in Milwaukee, but only in nine games.
After spending 1997 and 1998 in the CBA, Earl went abroad. He played all over the place in Europe, Asia, and Australia. After his playing days he coach in the ABA with the Tijuana Dragons in Mexico.
The Score on Acie Earl – 5.0
I’m really glad that I got a card of Acie playing with the Hawkeyes. That was maybe the time in my life when I followed college basketball the most so I remember him in college the best of any time in his career. As for his signature, there really isn’t much to it. It seems like its an “AO” so I am not sure if maybe that is his “l” which could be a loop. I’m not sure about the random “B” he put on all these cards.
Thanks Mr. Earl! I;m giving this return a 5.
