The Story of the Autograph
Dave Krieg is a former quarterback in the National Football League. He played from 1980 through 1998 with the Seahawks, Chiefs, Lions, Cardinals, Bears and Oilers.
Krieg was born and raised in Wisconsin. He went to college at Milton in Wisconsin which no longer exists. And while that doesn’t sound like a promising start, it gets worse when you realize he was the 7th man on the depth chart. But he got an opportunity to play and took it, completing four passes with three for touchdowns.
Given that he went to a small school, he wasn’t drafted in 1980 and the Seahawks signed him to be their third string quarterback. In the first few years he didn’t get much of a chance, but it was 1984 when he really showed up. He started 16 games and led the Seahawks to a 12-4 record with 3,600_ yards, 32 touchdowns and unfortunately a league leading 24 interceptions. But he made his first Pro Bowl.
When he played he had a winning record from 1983 to his penultimate season in Seattle in 1990. During that time he made three Pro Bowls. His next stop was Kansas City where he was pretty successful in 1992. From there he jumped around a bit and was pretty much a journeyman but always got some starts.
The Score on Dave Krieg – 6.0
Dave signed most of these consistently but put a message on one. I always wonder why a message gets on one card and not others. His signature is really strong with that nice thick marker he used. I think it came out best on the two Fleer cards but those Pro Line cards have been really interesting to me.
Thanks Mr. Krieg! I’m giving this return a 6.
