The Story of the Autograph

Steve Foucault is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played with the Rangers, Tigers and Royals over his six seasons from 1973 through 1978.

Foucault was born in Minnesota but went to high school in Miami, Florida. He then went to college at South Georgia College. In 1969 the Washington Senators drafted him in the 43rd round of the MLB Draft. But before he could appear as a Senator they moved to Texas where he would make his major league debut on April 7, 1973.

He worked as a relief pitcher for his whole career. His best years came with the Rangers where he put up career highs in wins with 8 (three years in a row), a career best 8-4 record in 1975, a career high in appearances with 69 in 1974, a career high in strikeouts with 106 in a career high 144.1 innings in 1974. The only career high he didn’t post in Texas was his 13 saves in the 1977 season.

The Rangers traded him to the Tigers for Willie Horton in 1977. In 1976 the Royals claimed him off waivers from the Tigers in August of that year but released him after three appearances. He never played in the majors again after that.

Steve’s signature is big and it’s really clear on these cards. Plus that blue color really goes well with all the Rangers cards. This was just a really good return in general.

Thanks Mr. Foucault! I’m giving this return an 8.
