The Story of the Autograph
Tim Connolly is a former center in the National Hockey League. He played from 1999 to 2012 with the New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Connolly was born in Baldwinsville, New York. He played in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments from 1993 to 1995 with a hockey team from Syracuse. He went to the OHL and after having some good seasons there was drafted by the Islanders with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
He went right to the Islanders without a stop in the minors and put up 14 goals and 20 assists for 34 points in his rookie season. He followed that up with two 40 points seasons, one with the Islanders and the second after moving to Buffalo where he would spend the next ten years and eight seasons of his career.
After missing only a few games in his first years, injuries started to catch up with him. He missed the entire 2003-2004 season with post-concussion syndrome. The following year the league was locked out and he played in Switzerland. But he was back with Buffalo in 2005. He was even better in his first year back and put up a then career high 55 points. But it was the 2009-10 season when he was the best. That year in 73 games he put up 17 goals (one short of his career high the year prior) and a by far career high 48 assists for 65 points. Unfortunately, Buffalo wasn’t having that much success in the playoffs over those years.
He played in Toronto for the final year of his career. He had a two-year contract but another injury and another lockout-shortened season forced him to cut things short.
The Score on Tim Connolly – 6.5
Tim doesn’t have a really defined signature, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t do a good job on these cards. I don’t think any of them really gave him a great place to show of the autograph. But the cards do looks good so that helps the autograph. I think my favorite is the 2009 Fleer Ultra card.
Thanks Mr. Connolly! I’m giving this return a 6.5 overall.
