His performance earned him the Atlantic 10 co-Player of the Year award in 1983.

The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Hinson as the 20th overall pick in the first round of the 1983 NBA Draft. Standing 6 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 210 pounds, he played primarily as a power forward. Hinson’s most notable season came in 1985-86, when he averaged 19.6 points per game and participated in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, finishing seventh out of eight contestants.

In 1986, Hinson was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft, which the Cavaliers used to select Brad Daugherty. The Score on Roy Hinson – 5.5

These isn’t the cleanest return from Roy. The 1991 Upper Deck card is smudged and unfortunately that is the one you see his signature best on. The 1990 Skybox cards are much better, but those are on a basically black background. I do love the Nets uniform he’s wearing in that one though.

Thanks Mr. Hinson! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
