Review / Preview – Week of 11/25

TTM Review Preview

It’s about the time of year for my favorite holiday… Thanksgiving!

I think as a kid, if you celebrate it, you like Christmas best. It’s all about getting gifts and all that. I even liked it as a younger parent because giving gifts was exciting.

But the more and more I get older and get to be an older parent, I’ve come to see Thanksgiving as the best holiday. All the eating and none of the pressure of gift giving. The food is my favorite part of most holidays anyway. I would bet someone would argue that turkey is not good. I don’t disagree, but it’s more than just the turkey.

I know in more recent years Thanksgivings might have been hard because of different family dynamics and the political landscape and all that. Thankfully my family squashes that talk for the most part. We always tend to have different people around for most years anyway.

One of my favorite Thanksgivings was spent with a foreign student. A few years ago George Mason ran a program where you could host a student from another country for just Thanksgiving. It was great. We had a young woman from Japan spend time with our family. Our kids loved her and she was doing mini origami with them. It was really neat to share things about our culture and hear about hers. It actually might have been my favorite Thanksgiving ever.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and has a great week!

The Review

Here’s what happened on the blog last week:

The #twofortuesday theme last week was all about the A’s. I’ve done at least one other week for them since the baseball season ended. They just happen to be coming up. This week was a little eclectic, but not in the normal way I look at it. It was that there were some more recent players appearing on the list.

The Preview

Here’s what I have coming up for this week:

  • Monday: Alicea in Wonderland…
  • Tuesday: Brad nails…
  • Tuesday: What the Buck…
  • Wednesday: Concealed Gary…
  • Thursday: Berry good…
  • Friday: Patterson cake, Patterson cake…
  • Saturday: I fought the Lawless…
  • Sunday: Old Schooler…

There’s no #twofortuesday theme this week. Still just getting back through the backlog with a whole lot of baseball.

Other Notes

Last week wasn’t that much better than the week prior. I went from 11 returns (all successes) to 12. They were still all successes so that is good. But I did get some more interesting things in the mix this week.

First, I got a pretty good #straggler. Chad Pinder, who I sent to in mid 2021, returned my cards for a 851 day return. That’s a good chunk of time in the straggler world. I also got Mark Grieg as a team return from the Flyers and two paid returns from Rick Auerbach and Harold Baines.

The Recent TTM Success page will be updated next weekend.

Have a great week!
