His performance included a three-hit, four-RBI game in Game 4, which remains one of the most memorable games of his career. Although the Orioles ultimately lost the series in seven games, Garcia’s performance elevated his profile and cemented his reputation as a player who could deliver under pressure.
After five seasons with the Orioles, Garcia was traded to the Houston Astros in 1981. He continued to serve as a versatile infielder, splitting time between second base, shortstop, and third base. Garcia later played for the Philadelphia Phillies (1983–1985). While his role often shifted between starter and utility player, he consistently provided depth and experience to his teams. Over his 10-year MLB career, Garcia played in 619 games, batting .239 with 12 home runs, 112 RBIs, and 34 stolen bases.
After retiring from professional baseball, Garcia remained connected to the sport. Kiko is always one of my favorites for his consistency, reliability and quality. He doesn’t have the most complicated signature but it is definitely identifiable as his and it seems kind of fun to me. That with the fact that he seems like on of the most “Bad New Bears” looking players ever, makes this a good one for me.
