I’m having a bit of a challenge with the World Series. I’m trying to figure out who to root for, or, maybe against.
I can’t really root for the Yankees as a Mets fan. But I don’t really want to root for the Dodgers either. I guess I’m just interested in good games. The first one was a great one and while he is a Mets-killer, the Freddie Freeman walkoff was great. He seems like a really good person so it’s hard to root against him.
I’m really trying hard to be a more positively focused fan. It’s hard sometimes though. I’ve just realized there are some people in my life that use “hate” in talking about sports in reference to players (I think using it to reference organizations might be different), but it sounds terrible to me these days.
Also it just seems that some people I know take a negative route to their approach to being a fan. It’s just not feeling good to me these days and I’m trying to change myself in that way so I don’t sound like that. But I can’t say I am doing a good job or being successful at it.
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and has a great week!
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: Jim Campanis
- Tuesday: Blake Parker, Adam Haseley
- Wednesday: Joe Washington
- Thursday: Paul Hartzell
- Friday: Karl Best
- Saturday: Mike Bibby
- Sunday: Bill Bathe
This week was a bit random from the end of the backlog. There wasn’t a theme to the #twofortuesday last week, but there was almost. Blake Parker and Adam Haseley are sort of recent players I guess. Maybe one is still trying and the other not.
The Preview
Here’s what I have coming up for this week:
- Monday: August-us Gloop…
- Tuesday: Bell of the ball…
- Tuesday: Only the Loney…
- Wednesday: Go West…
- Thursday: Woodson you be mine…
- Friday: Trader Joe’s…
- Saturday: I’m a-Paul-ed…
- Sunday: 867-5309, Janney…
I came up with a #twofortuesday this week. There’s going to be a #steelcity theme with both posts being for Pittsburgh teams.
Other Notes
If you read this post weekly you’ll know that in recent weeks I’ve had some really disappointing results from TTM returns. Not in what I am getting back (I mean, I sent it out I hope that I like what I am getting back!) but in the totals. I’m not going to get everything back, but I’m expecting a better percentage. And really it’s expected because it’s been pretty stead for years. Well this week was different.
This week I got back 24 returns! And there were no failures in that number either. That’s a huge difference from other recent weeks where I’ve had half or even almost a third of that number come back. I’m not sure what might have caused the explosion.
As for what was interesting in those returns, there were no stragglers and no paid returns. I did get back a team return from Frank White via the Kansas City Monarchs.
The Recent TTM Success page will be updated next weekend.
Have a great week!
