The Story of the Autograph

Kevin Stocker is a former major league shortstop. He played from 1993 to 2000 with the Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and Anaheim Angels.

Stocker is a native of Spokane, Washington. He went on to attend the University of Washington and played baseball for the Huskies for three seasons. The Phillies selected him in the second round of the 1991 MLB Draft and he made his major league debut on July 7, 1993. In that first season he played in 70 games, hit .324, had two homers and 31 RBI. He played well enough to garner a few Rookie of the Year votes.

His playing time built up over the first two years and was the regular shortstop from 1995 to 1997 in Philadelphia. During the 1997 expansion draft the Phillies traded him to the Devil Rays for Bobby Abreu. He played two seasons in Tampa Bay before being released and then signing with the Angels.

He went to work for the Pac-12 Network and CBS Sports as a color analyst after his playing days. These days owns an Emerald City Smoothie franchise in Washington.

When I got this signature I found Kevin at the Pac-12 offices. Those are probably no more of course a this point. So I’m not sure the status of an address for him. This autograph came out really well which isn’t always the case on the 1994 Topps cards. I find that sometimes the finish on them doesn’t make for a great signature.

Thanks Mr. Stocker! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
