The Story of the Autograph
Chris Chandler is a former quarterback in the NFL. He played from 1988 to 2004 for the Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Phoenix Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, Houston Oilers, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams.
Chandler is a native of Everett, Washington. During high school he played basketball, ran track and played golf in addition to playing football. He went on to attend the University of Washington and was third in the school’s history in total offense. He was the Offensive Player of the Game in the 1988 Senior Bowl before being drafted by the Colts in the third round of the 1988 NFL Draft.
The first half of his career he was a back up. While he started 13 of 15 games in 1988, his rookie year, he didn’t get a chance to start much after that and bounced around a bit. He started more in 1992 with Phoenix, but really was recognized as a starter when he went to Houston in 1995. When he did get a chance to start he could play pretty well, but never really was part of very successful teams.
That all changed when he got to Atlanta in 1997. He put together two very good years where he was recognized as a Pro Bowl player in 1997 and ’98. But it was 1998 that everything came together for him and he had by far his career year. He went 13-1 as a starter with 3,154 yards and 25 touchdowns, both career highs. He helped the Falcons to the Super Bowl where they unfortunately met a great Broncos team that was winning back to back championships.
He came back down to earth a bit for the rest of his career after that. He loves golf as played in celebrity tournaments. In fact he won the American Century Championship in 2007 and has eight top ten finishes.

Chris has a really great signature. I always love a repititve letter in a signature and Chris’ “Cs” do the trick. I think the best of these cards is the 1991 Pacific card because the signature sticks out the best. I wish I could find a card of him as a Falcon but that’s a bit of a hole in my football card collecting years.
