The Story of the Autograph
Steve Watson is a former wide receiver in the NFL. He played from 1979 to 1987, all with the Denver Broncos.
Watson was born in Baltimore, Maryland but was raised in Delaware. He played his college football at Temple University. He also ran track for the Owls and as a longer jumper won two conference titles. He went undrafted and then was signed by the Broncos in 1979.
His career would start slow. In his first two seasons he only had six receptions each season. Then in 1981 he started all sixteen games and had 60 receptions for a career high 1,244 yards plus a league leading and career high 13 touchdowns. That was enough to earn him the only Pro Bowl and All-Pro (Second-Team) honors of his career.
He would continue as a starting receiver until his last year in the league, 1987. That season he would only play in five games and start just one of those. But he had two other 1,1,00+ hard seasons in his career. He probably could have had a third, but the 1982 strike-shortened season fell in the middle of his best years in the league.
The Score on Steve Watson – 7.5
This one came out great from Steve. The card really let’s him show his signature off. It’s got quite a lot of action. I think this card is a great example of 80’s football too. Those old Denver uniforms, the classic helmet and face guard, all of that.
Thanks Mr. Watson! I’m giving this return a 7.5.
