The Story of the Autograph
Reggie Harris is a former right-handed relief pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1990 to 1999 with the Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers.
Harris is a native of Waynesboro, Virginia. He was drafted out of high school by the Red Sox in the first round of the 1987 MLB Draft with the 26th overall pick. But he wouldn’t make it to the majors with the Red Sox, at least not to start his career. The A’s drafted him in the rule 5 drafted in 1989 and he made his debut with them in the following season on July 4, 1990.
In his first season he pitched in 16 games with one start. He went 1-0 with a 3.48 ERA. He played in only two games for the A’s in the following season. He wouldn’t appear in the majors again until 1996 and at that point he was a journeyman and would skip around to four more teams before the end of his career.
In more recent years he’s been coaching in the minor leagues as a pitching coach. This year he’s been coaching with the Staten Island FerryHawks.
The Score on Reggie Harris – 6.0
Is his name “Beggie” or “Reggie”. Doesn’t it look like he leads with the first initial of “B”? I guess “Bs” and “Rs” are pretty close. The 1991 Topps card got a really bad smudge which is unfortunate. That’s probably the card that was going to show off his signature the best.
Thanks Mr. Harris! I’m giving this return a 6 overall.
