Last week I devoted the intro to the Review / Preview to what I was thinking and feeling about Jacob deGrom leaving for the Rangers. While there’s still a sting to that… this week is a bit different.
Nimmo, Verlander, Senga, Robertson, Quintana, Raley… it was a big week for the Mets! It’s always nicer to follow your team while they are making moves rather than feeling FOMO. Of course, no one wins anything in the offseason and the team still has holes (bullpen, DH, etc.), but this week has me feeling a lot better.
So much so that I was spending time with the Google Translator to figure out how to say “Let’s Go!” or “Strike Out!”. Not that I really trust anything on there because I’m not familiar with Japanese at all (compared to say French, Spanish or German that is at least a little like English and I can ask people). But it’s still fun.
I really like the idea of Senga in New York and I hope he pans out even a little. I hope that the pressure is off a bit since we are not expecting him to the THE ACE, maybe just AN ace. I’d also like to think that playing with guys like Scherzer and Verlander will help him transition to MLB better.
Here we go!
Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: David Newhan
- Tuesday: Kevin Romine, Dane Iorg
- Wednesday: Butch Wynegar
- Thursday: Bill Heath
- Friday: Bob Owchinko, November 2022 TTM Report
- Saturday: Justin De Fratus
- Sunday: Steve Cox
Still digging through that backlog. I did get the November report out though so that’s more of a success than just posting every day.
The Preview
Here’s what I have coming up for this week:
- Monday: Richie Rich…
- Tuesday: A-A-ron…
- Tuesday: Malers and Fe-Malers…
- Wednesday: That the LaPoint…
- Thursday: Mike check…
- Friday: Drivin’ down the Blaine…
- Saturday: Cash money…
- Sunday: Larry the cable guy…
Still on the track of getting the oldest of the backlog out… and still pretty random.
Other Notes
After a crappy week of 10 returns, I had a great week of 21. I really just don’t get it. This ebb and flow really never happened this way until this fall. It makes me wonder if something is going on with the mail. I actually almost beat last weeks successful return numbers just on Monday this past week.
There were no failures this week, another thing not like last week. But there were two stragglers and one was a good one (both from the straggler perspective and who it was). Chuck Porter was my normal straggler at 216 days. But Rick Dempsey was my good straggler at 528 days. I saw that others had gotten Rick back too with even longer times out.
The Recent TTM Success page is updated.
Have a great week!
