The Story of the Autograph
Pat Jarvis is a former right-handed starting pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1966 to 1973 with the Atlanta Braves and Montreal Expos.
Jarvis was born and raised in Carlyle, Illinois. He went on to Murray State University. He was signed by the Cubs before the 1960 season as an amateur free agent. The following year he was sent to the Tigers in what Baseball Reference termed as an “unknown transaction.” Then in 1963 he was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers for Bruce Brubaker. But all of that was before he made his major league debut. And still before that, the Braves moved to Atlanta. He made it to the big leagues officially on August 4, 1966.
He played well throughout his career when you look at his record. He had a winning record every year except for two and one of those was a .500 year. He put up three seasons of at least sixteen wins each year. His ERA was almost 4 for his career at 3.58. He’s not a big guy at just 5’10” and 180 pounds and took on the nickname “The Little Bulldog”.
After baseball he had his ups and downs, working as a sheriff and later getting convicted of fraud. These days he runs an organic nursery in Georgia.

Pat has a nice signature and appears to be on of those guys who tries to find a good place to sign on the card, hence the sideways signature on that part of the card. It doesn’t stick out very well with that thin marker he used but it’s still a nice signature. The postcard he included was extra and unfortunately he got my name wrong. Apparently I write terribly.
