The Story of the Autograph
Jeff Tackett is a former backup catcher in the major leagues. He played from 1991 to 1994 and spent his whole career in the majors with the Baltimore Orioles.
Tackett is a California native. He was drafted out of high school by Baltimore in the second round of the 1984 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut several years later on September 11, 1991. He made it into six games that first season and hit .125.
His best season was his second in 1992 when he made it into 65 games and had career highs across the board as you might think when you play in the most games in your career. He his .240 with five homers and 24 RBI. He played his last game on August 2, 1994 and hit a home run in his final major league at bat.
The Score on Jeff Tackett – 6.5
Jeff has a really loopy, circular signature. That sort of makes sense with the “J” but you might not thing the rest of the letters in his name really work with that style. But it really looks cool. I think the best of these is the 1993 Fleer card. I love that black ink on all these Orioles cards even if it makes it tough to see on some of them.
