The Story of the Autograph

Caleb Joseph is a catcher who played in the majors as recently as 2020. His major league experience currently spans from 2014 to 2020 and during that time he played for the Baltimore Orioles, Arizona Diamondbacks and Toronto Blue Jays.

Joseph is a native of Tennessee. He attended Lipscomb University for college and was All-Conference and an MVP of the conference tournament while he was there. The Orioles drafted him in the seventh round of the 2008 MLB Draft. After several years of working through the O’s minor league system he made his major league debut on May 7, 2014.

He played in half of the games that first season and got more of a shot in his second year because Matt Wieters was recovering from Tommy John surgery. With more opportunities he put up better numbers. That year he his .234 with a career high eleven homers and 49 RBI in 100 games.

After playing in 49 games in 2016 and then pretty much half of the games the next two seasons, he struggled in 2018 and was sent down to Norfolk. From there he started moving around, first to Arizona as a free agent and then with the Blue Jays on a minor league contract. He’s since tried to make it back to the bigs with the Mets and Mariners in 2021 but hasn’t appeared in a game since 2020.

The Score on Caleb Joseph – 5.0

Caleb has a pretty small signature. That isn’t helped too much when most of the cards you sign are dark and/or busy like both of these are. There just isn’t a great spot on them for a small signature like his. I like the style of it, it just happens to be on the small side.

Thanks Mr. Joseph! I’m giving this return a 5.
