I didn’t send out anything for Spring Training this year. I figured there was still some “feeling out” to be done about whether or not teams are ready to accept mail. Let alone if current players and coaches would sign. Not that it’s much different then sending mail to homes for former players, but Spring Training has a lesser success rate in my opinion.
It just wasn’t worth it. In my experience it was getting that way anyway in recent years. Maybe this will be the catalyst for me to stop doing it (probably not).
But I figured I would try again when the season was rolling and getting things to stadiums. Not for current players though. I’m aiming for coaches and front office staff. That goes for the major leagues as well as the minors.
Thus far I feel like I’ve been doing pretty well. There have been some surprises and some guys I’ve gotten this way before. Overall though I am very happy with how it’s turned out so far. A while ago I wrote a post about this and you might want to check that out if you are interested. Some of the names have changed, but it might be worth a read to get your brain going on it.
Hope everyone is doing well!
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: Brian Goodwin
- Tuesday: Matt Alexander, Dick Green
- Wednesday: Brett Butler
- Thursday: Bill Swift
- Friday: Bill Dawley
- Saturday: Jeremy Guthrie
- Sunday: Marc Hill
It was an Oakland #twofortuesday this week. I don’t think we’ve seen that team before on the two for Tuesday. Brian Goodwin definitely got a load of likes on the IG front this week, very popular. Now that I’m looking at it, I could have had a “Bill” #twofortuesday too.
The Preview
Here’s what I have coming up for this week:
- Monday: I Nied you tonight…
- Tuesday: He has a dry Whitt…
- Tuesday: He keeps his Witts about him…
- Wednesday: I love Lind chocolates…
- Thursday: Bri guy…
- Friday: Jack and Jill went up the Hiller…
- Saturday: Dan the man…
- Sunday: The Schrom-inator…
This #twofortuesday will be a little different this week. We’re going with the Whitt/Witt approach. Not sure how I will give it a name… if I even can.
Other Notes
The weeks are pretty consistent these days. I got 14 returns. That’s an improvement on last week, but not really where I want it to be. What I would give to have another 18-0 return week…
There were no super big surprises this week. I did get Paul Assenmacher and that’s a bit different as I thought he was charging these days. As for tying this into the top of this post, the coaches I got this week were Al Pedrique and David Newhan.
Have a great week!
