It was nice to have a short week of work and thankfully a sort of normal week of TTMs. But I started thinking as I got cards back this week… Players at which position (in baseball at least) are the best TTM signers?
I’m not necessarily thinking of volume. Technically there are so many pitchers and then outfielders that volume-wise you could probably say those. I’m kind of thinking more in the way of rate of success. I think it’s catchers.
In general I feel like there are so many reliable back up catchers over the years who sign. That’s just a gut feeling though and maybe some day I’ll look at all the data I collect on what I send out and get back. But when I thought about it, maybe there is more of a likelihood to have more catchers on your team. Very rarely would a catcher play all 162 so you have to have a backup specifically for that position.
I think there are a lot of catchers that end up then becoming managers as well. That sort of ups the chances of getting them later on again. It just had my mind going this week and I thought it was interesting.
Hope everyone is doing well!
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: Delino DeShields, Jr., June 2021 TTM Report
- Tuesday: Wayne Gross, Alejandro Pena
- Wednesday: Ken Hill
- Thursday: Dave Parker
- Friday: Bruce Reimers
- Saturday: Marc Sullivan
- Sunday: Sam Fuld
There wasn’t a specific #twofortuesday, and I totally forgot to tag it that way this week. One thing I did notice is that I had three guys that charge in a row that posted this week: Pena, Hill, and Parker.
The Preview
Here’s what I have coming up for this week:
- Monday: Good win…
- Tuesday: A two first-namer…
- Tuesday: Sounds like something you don’t want…
- Wednesday: The Butler did it…
- Thursday: Swiftly…
- Friday: Don’t dilly-Dawley…
- Saturday: Jeremy was a bullfrog…
- Sunday: Marc my words…
Oakland will be the place for the #twofortuesday this week. We are also going all baseball for the week. Lately a few other sports have snuck in by I am actually surprised we don’t see more “all baseball” weeks with what I’ve sent out over the last several months.
Other Notes
It was a slowish week with 13 returns, but I guess since I keep saying that in recent weeks I should start considering that normal. It at least felt like I had some consistency with something coming every day. But I guess that’s easy to have happen in a short mail week given the holiday.
This week I got back three catchers of the thirteen I got back: Barry Lyons, Steve Swisher, and Eddie Taubensee. Those are the guys that got me thinking about what I posed to start this post.
Have a great week!
