The Story of the Autograph
Archi (whose real name is Angelo Dominic) Cianfrocco is a former corner infielder in the major leagues. He played from 1992 to 1998 with the Montreal Expos and San Diego Padres. He also spent a year in the Japanese major leagues with the Seibu Lions in 1999.
Cianfrocco was born and raised in Rome, New York. He went to college first at Onandaga Community College where he was drafted twice, but never signed, both times by the Pirates in 1986. The first time was in the 11th round of the Regular Phase of the draft and the second time was later the same year in the Secondary Phase of the draft in the fourth round. Instead he continued on to Purdue University.
After one year at Purdue he was drafted again in 1987 by the Expos in the fifth round and chose to sign. He made his major league debut on April 8, 1992. He played in about half the games his first season in Montreal. In his second year he was traded to the Padres. Over the next several years with the Padres he never played in much more than have the games of any season. His best season was probably that first year in San Diego in 1993 when he hit .244 in 84 games with 11 homers and 47 RBI.
His last game in the majors was September 26, 1998 for the Padres. But before calling it a career he went to play in Japan.
The Score on Archi Cianfrocco – 5.5
Archi’s marker seemed to be running out a bit. Its also possible that the finish on these cards contributed to the way the marker came out on these too. I really like the way the blue marker looks on both of these. One thing I remember about this one is that my daughter loved his name and the way he spells it.
Thanks Mr. Cianfrocco! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
