The Story of the Autograph
Joe Oliver is a former catcher in the major leagues. He played from 1989 to 2001 with the Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.
Oliver was born in Tennessee but grew up in Florida. He was drafted out of high school by the Reds in the second round of the 1983 MLB Draft. After several years in the minors he made his major league debut on July 15, 1989. He played in 49 games that first year and earned the full time gig the next season.
In 1990 the Reds had an amazing season and ended up defeating the Oakland A’s in the World Series. Oliver put up a .231 average with eight homers and 52 RBI that season. He played great in the World Series batting .333 with three doubles and two RBI. His best overall season was probably 1992 when he hit .270 with 10 homers and 57 RBI in 143 games.
In more recent years Oliver managed in the minor leagues.

I had received TTMs from Joe while ago and then I feel like I hadn’t seen him signing anything in a while. Then somehow I saw his name start popping up again on SCF and I figured I would give him a try. He’s got a great signature and I think it looks best on the Bowman card.
