The Story of the Autograph

Chris Codiroli is a former starting pitcher in the major leagues. He played in eight seasons from 1982 to 1990, missing the 1989 season. During is time in the majors he spent time with the Oakland Athletics, Cleveland Indians, and Kansas City Royals.

Codiroli is a native of California. He played his college baseball in San Jose and was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the first round of the 1978 MLB Draft with the eleventh overall pick. Before he could make it to the majors with the Tigers they released him in 1981. He signed with the A’s just a few days after that and made his debut before the end of the next season on September 11, 1982.

He spent the majority of time in the majors with the A’s (six seasons from 1982 to 1987). In his two best seasons he was a .500 pitcher with a 12-12 record in 1983 and a 14-14 record in 1985. His 14 wins in 1985 led the A’s for that season. He also had a league high 37 starts that year. But his ERA for his career was pretty high at 4.87.

He played his final game after making it back to the majors with the Royals in 1990 on October 2, 1990.

Chris has a nice signature, but I think the story of one of these cards makes him an interesting TTM. The 1989 Topps “Record Breaker” card is his picutre, but it’s supposed to be Doug Jones. Doug wouldn’t sign in for me but I guess Chris will.

Thanks Mr. Codiroli! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
