The Story of the Autograph

Eric Bell is a former left-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played all or parts of six seasons from 1985 to 1993 with the Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, and Houston Astros.

Bell is a native of Modesto, California. He was drafted by the Orioles out of Fred C. Beyer High School in the ninth round of the 1982 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut on September 24, 1985. He spent the first two seasons after his call-up mostly in the minors, only appearing in four games each season. Then in 1987 he went 10-13 in 29 starts and 33 games with a 5.45 ERA.

He wouldn’t appear again in the majors until after he was released by the Orioles and moved on to the Indians in 1991. He worked in relief after that and spent two seasons with the Indians, ending it with a 7.63 ERA and two losses before being released. He was picked up by the Astros the next year but went 0-1 in 10 appearances with a 6.14 ERA and wouldn’t play in the majors again after his release from Houston.

These cards actually works out pretty well for Eric’s signature. They all have some pretty good places to sign and the marker he used was a good one. I really like how the “E” and the “B” in his name sort of mirror each other.

Thanks Mr. Bell! I’m giving this return a 7.
