The Story of the Autograph

Jerry Terrell is a former infielder in the major leagues. He played from 1973 to 1980 with the Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals.

Terrell is a native of Minnesota. After high school he stayed in state and played baseball for Minnesota State. The Twins must have gotten a good look at him because they drafted him in the 18th round of the 1968 MLB Draft. While he started in the minors that season, he missed the 1969 season while serving in Vietnam. He made his debut for the Twins on April 14, 1973.

He made it into 124 games in his rookie season. During that campaign he hit .265 with a homer and 32 RBI. 1975 was probably his best year though. That season he his .286 in 108 games with one homer and 36 RBI. That was good enough for a 1.6 WAR that season.

After five seasons in Minnesota he moved on to the Royals as a free agent. He played the next three seasons there but his playing time went down each year and never played as much as a half a season. He was part of the 1980 team that made the post season in Kansas City but only played 22 games and was not on the post season roster.

After his playing days he worked as a scout for the Twin, Royals, and Montreal Expos.

Jerry has a pretty signature. I know you’ve heard me mention have a signature that has some repetition or symmetry in it but he has it in there. The top of the “J” and the bottom of the “T” go really well together. I think I’ve picked up some other cards of his that probably will show off his signature well so I should get those out. I’m hoping there are some Twins cards in there.

Thanks Mr. Terrell! I’m giving this return a 6.5 overall.
